Why TEDPTA Academy

The main objective of the Techno Environment Drone Piloting Training Academy (TEDPTA) is to provide general RPAS training certification training course and Specialised training course which will focus on how drone can be utilised in different sector concentrating on output result in area like research, utility, mining, survey, mapping, agriculture, Wildlife management, forest monitoring and other environmental and non-environment related sectors.

  • Conducting Drone need assessment training and safety per sector based.
  • Provide state-of-the-art training facilities and learning environment for Drone operations.
  • Facilitate drone events, open workshops for awareness and compliance purpose.

1. General RPAS Pilot Training and Certification

Objective of this course

The Remote Pilot Aircraft courses is the initial required for a candidate to start their professional drone pilot career and acquire licence. The course is divided into three sections namely, theory, practical and skill test.

The duration of the theory is 3 weeks and runs from Monday to Friday during which an in-house examination is completed as well. Once a candidate has completed the theory and examinations, the candidate will then move on to the practical flying element of the course.

The practical flight house is three hours actual flight time, which mean the actual time that you fly the drone. The instructor will complete a series of exercises with the candidate and once deemed competent, will recommend the candidate to complete his/her skills test.

Skills tests are completed with a DRE (Designated RPAS Examiner).

The skills test has two parts. The ground evaluations which test your theoretical knowledge and the flight evaluation which tests the candidate’s ability to complete manoeuvres with the drone.

2. Drone Surveying & Mapping Certificate

Objective of this course

This course will give you the knowledge to start performing professional drone-based surveying jobs. Visual images, maps, and models are the most common deliverables. Drone surveying also encompasses data captured with infrared and multispectral / hyperspectral cameras. By utilizing different sensors and capture methods, drones can provide useful data to a wide range of industries. This course will show you how to do this and more.

This drone surveying course is about the creation of maps, 3D models, and other geographical data via drone. It is most done by taking many images at different locations and then using software to merge them all together, creating a geometrically accurate map or model. In practice, this is accomplished using software that automates both flight and image capture.

The duration of the theory is 2 weeks and runs from Monday to Friday during which an in-house examination is completed as well. Once a candidate has completed the theory and examinations, the candidate will then move on to the practical flying element of the course and field data capture.
