Precise and accurate drone LiDAR payload
Elevate professional mapping tasks
- 1535nm long-range LiDAR,
- Vertical accuracy: Better than 3cm at 120m altitude, better than 5cm at 300m altitude, and 10cm at 500m altitude.
- Laser beam divergence of 0.25 mrad (1/e²): Spot size one-fifth of Zenmuse L2, for detection of smaller objects.
- Extended range up to 950 m under 100 kHz scanning frequency.
- Adjustable scanning rates (100–2000 kHz) for flexible mission demands.
- Up to 16 returns for enhanced penetration through dense vegetation.
- Typical working altitude: 300–500m (supports 1:500–1:1000 mapping scale). Discuss UK SORA applications with our in-house regulatory specialists to explore flying higher than 120m.
- Penetrates vegetation and captures complex terrain with minimal noise.
Three scanning modes for mission versatility
Flexible LiDAR capture for every terrain type
DJI Zenmuse L3 supports three scanning modes for different opertional scenarios.
- Linear scanning: Achieves more consistent point cloud distribution, ideal for high-accuracy terrain mapping.
- Star-shaped scanning: Balances accuracy with multiple scan angles and penetration capability, well-suited for forests or dense urban environments..
- Non-repetitive scanning: Provides multiple scan angles and broader coverage, optimized for power line inspections and other complex structural surveys.
Dual 100MP cameras for stunning visual details
Simultaneous LiDAR and RGB imaging for rich, accurate data
- Two 4/3 CMOS 100MP cameras with mechanical shutter.
- Pixel binning supports an effective 25MP resolution with large pixel size, supporting superior colour resolution, even in low-light environments.
- Achieves a 3cm GSD at 300m altitude.
- Real-time position synchronisation enables GCP-free operation.
- Fastest continuous capture: 0.5 s (25 MP) / 1.2 s (100 MP).
- Ultra-wide 107° horizontal FOV captures extensive ground coverage per flight.
- Produce LiDAR point clouds and orthophotos in a single mission.
- RGB camera enables the creation of true-colour point clouds.
Designed for performance and protection
Transform data collection
- Compatible with DJI Matrice 400.
- Dedicated gimbal mount for enhanced stabilisation – especially when mapping at quicker speeds.
- Optimal flight speed: 15-17m/s recommended, or up to 25m/s for rapid mapping.
- AGL terrain follow and efficiency modes enhance consistency and productivity.
Smart data collection
Streamlined surveying
- Point cloud result preview: DJI Pilot 2 automatically recommends parameters based on user-defined routes and generates a Density Profile Chart and point cloud distribution.
- Power Line Follow: Supports operations up to 130m. Complete electrical corridor data acquisition in a single straight flight in most scenarios.
- Flexible split-screen view: View two data sources simultaneously – point cloud, RGB, or Vision Assist. During Power Line Follow or when RGB cameras face downward, Vision Assist provides real-time forward-facing visuals.
- Real-time point cloud: Real-time point cloud SLAM reconstruction with instant 2D and 3D point cloud previews. Monitor progress and take measurements as data is being collected. Sync point clouds instantly to the cloud via DJI FlightHub 2.
- Cloud-based point cloud measurement: Point clouds are compatible with DJI FlightHub 2. View and manage point cloud data, generate flight routes, annotate, and conduct measurements – all via the cloud.
End-to-end mapping workflow with DJI Terra and Modify
Point cloud to 3D model in one ecosystem
- End-to-end solution: Use L3 in conjunction with DJI Terra, DJI Modify, DJI FlightHub 2, and third-party software, including Terrasolid.
- DJI Terra enables PPK data processing, Gaussian Splatting of point cloud and RGB data for enhanced realism, and fusion-based modelling to enable users to simultaneously generate accurate point clouds, 2D maps, and 3D mesh models.
- DJI Terra offers free support for Zenmuse L3 point cloud reconstruction.
- DJI Modify enables point cloud classification, point-cloud cross-section profiling, and the generation of outputs such as DEM, TIN, point grids, and contour lines.
- Streamlined project management for surveyors and GIS professionals, and meets the needs of engineering and design CAD-related workflows.
